Charlie is a retired Naval Aviator and Commander, an Iraqi War Veteran, and a former intelligence policy advisor at NATO. He has lived and worked throughout Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Charlie is a PMP who has specialized in applied leadership having led hundreds of people in small and large organizations.
Charlie was a Senior Course Member of the NATO Defense College in Rome, and organized the Military Intelligence Committee for NATO Headquarters in Brussels, driving numerous policy issues while working directly with heads of military intelligence for each NATO member country.
As a Battalion Commander in Iraq, Charlie led 400 Sailors in a strategically sensitive guarding mission, seeing first-hand the part leadership, identity, and environmental issues play in Post-Traumatic Stress. His recommendations to the Chief of Naval Operations office regarding the preparation and leadership of Individual Augmentees left a legacy for future deployments.
Following the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, Charlie’s advance team leadership was instrumental in preparing USNS MERCY (TAH-19) for a humanitarian mission to Bangladesh and Philippines as well as ravaged parts of Indonesia. Bringing much needed medical, surgical, and dental attention to those areas, MERCY played a major part in building medical capabilities of those countries while also bringing Operation Smile to Bangladesh for the first time.
In support of Veterans and the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, Charlie has focused on transformational issues in the areas of Category Management and most recently, how the Veteran Benefits Administration communicates to Veterans and their families. Charlie is passionate about empowering people and companies to perform at peak levels. He has flight instructor and commercial flight certificates and has worked in military and civilian fields ranging from foreign policy, aircraft and ship maintenance, intelligence, and even real estate. Charlie obtained his Masters of International Relations from Auburn University at Montgomery, and has a second Masters in Military Arts and Sciences from the USAF Air Command and Staff College.
